Product Description | Satoru Sakuma Guitar Hauser Model — Latest Work

The fourth instrument in the new Sakuma Guitar model series.

Developed at the suggestion of Media Calm, this model has been created and refined based on the 1934 Hermann Hauser I guitar.

With this latest work, the model has finally reached a new level of completion.

This guitar can truly be regarded as the culmination of all the research and improvements carried out so far.

■ Refinements Pursuing an Even Higher Level of Completion

・Jescar #55090 frets have been adopted.

These larger and taller frets give the sound a greater sense of scale and significantly improve control over articulation and tone production.

・The fingerboard radius has been made more pronounced than on the previous model.

This allows the left hand to press the strings more naturally, resulting in a design that helps reduce fatigue even during long playing sessions.

■ A New Level Reached in the Pursuit of the Essence of Sound

Further refined from the previous model, the sound image is clear and well-defined, yet never overly hard. It expands naturally into the surrounding space.

With its clean, noise-free articulation and a focused tonal core, this instrument embodies, at a very high level, the qualities commonly found in truly fine guitars.

This is not merely a reproduction of a historic model. By combining the essence of the Hauser tradition with modern playability, this guitar can truly be regarded as a work that brings together the lineage and development of Sakuma Guitars to date.

■ Tonal Characteristics

The first thing that leaves a strong impression is the presence of the bass, which clearly sets this instrument apart.

The sixth string, in particular, is truly remarkable. It goes beyond simply being deep or powerful, offering density, sound pressure, and a focused tonal core. It produces a resonance that can rightly be called the bass of a truly fine guitar.

Once played, it has the strength to command the very atmosphere of the space, yet it never becomes muddy. Instead, it expands naturally while maintaining a clear and musical outline.

This bass forms the foundation of the entire instrument, raising its sense of scale and musical persuasiveness to an even higher level.

In addition, this guitar has an exceptionally musical response.

It responds naturally to the player’s nuances, never interrupting the flow of phrasing. Rather, it seems to guide the music forward in a natural way.

As a result, the time spent playing this instrument feels deeply fulfilling, leaving a strong impression of genuine enjoyment.

Among Japanese-made guitars, there are not many instruments that connect so directly to the sheer joy of playing. In this respect as well, this guitar deserves special attention.

In instruments often referred to as truly fine guitars, there is a common appeal that goes beyond tone color and volume: the joy of playing.

Sakuma Guitars touch precisely on this essence, giving the player a strong sense of musical joy.

It is something that cannot be fully explained through numbers or words, but it offers a special feeling that answers something many players are unconsciously seeking.

■ The New Standard for Future Models

From now on, this model is planned to be made in this style as the standard for the Sakuma Hauser Model.

In other words, this instrument is not merely a single example, but a commemorative completed form that will serve as the new standard for future models.

■ Playability and Expressiveness That Respond to the Player

This instrument combines a refined tone with excellent playability, responding naturally to the player’s intentions, from delicate nuances to powerful expressions.

It is a guitar that allows the player to experience the essential appeal of the classical guitar in a more direct and immediate way.

■ Media Calm Original Scale-Length Compensation

This guitar features our original scale-length compensation.

Taking into account the pitch deviation that occurs when pressing nylon strings, we have optimized the bridge position and saddle contact points.

This results in more accurate tuning and more beautiful harmony in chords.
